The blogger is Kaga and he is one of the men who is wearing a blazer and white shirt inside. He says he is of same age as GHS. He also summarized what GHS said most of the time, so sometimes I may just summarize him.

Kaga traveled far to participate in the Star News and he is excited. These participants seem to be all owners of blogs and had to come an hour before the actual interview time (1 PM on October 21, 2009 at Café Manolin) in order to go over the preliminaries and agenda before meeting GHS.

I am sure you gathered from the pix that these bloggers’ questions are written inside orange, folded papers and arranged inside a cup. GHS is to pick these folded papers one at a time and answer the questions written on them in order. I guess that is why contestants had to submit their questions ahead of time.

Kaga, the blogger, says that bloggers got along fine before the meeting of GHS and one of them is suppose to be a ‘power-blogger’ from the Naver site. He did not have enough time to thoroughly look at the Café and he is especially interested in looking at GHS paintings and promises himself to return before the paintings are taken down on October 31, 2009. '

Kaga is touched by GHS’ first greeting to the bloggers: “Have you even eaten before you came today?” (Such questions about whether someone ate or not is a basic Asian courtesy of being concerned about others. Right?) Kaga feels almost immediately touched by her question which indicate to him that GHS is a sincere and considerate person. He describes GHS as “full of tender smell of people about her”. (Korean ideom which may mean that she is very relatable? He also senses traces of GHS in every nooks and crannies and corners of the Café Manolin. (I think he sensed correctly!)

Finally, she came. Red hoodie, grey skinny jeans and black boots of the Shinhwa days. So much more casual(?) than I expected. But, underneath that hood is such a white, pretty face that I almost sighed.

In Kaga’s blog, GHS’s first question is different from another one.

First Question: What is GHS’ dress code?

GHS says that she knows that she has to wear a dress in certain occasions and certain places. But she feels very awkward in a dress. Normally, she prefers to wear casual clothing which she may either make it herself or buy off the rack at the Dong Dae Moon Market (the famous market in Seoul that offers anything for less. If I am not mistaken, I think KHJ’s parents have a shop there. Right?

Another blogger writes that GHS said that she likes clothes that do not expose her and that s/he really likes that about her.)Why?GHS feels that casual clothing that she chooses to wear have more variety and uniqueness to them.What does your agency say about that?She smiles softly while she says that her Agency does not really like it. However, she says that even in formal occasions like movie screenings she prefers casual dressing because it makes her feel closer to the general public. She proudly notes that her sunbaes have liked her concept of dressing. Kaga comments that this is one of GHS’s charms.

Second Question: How do you manage all your ideas?

Kaga is very interested in how someone like GHS, who does so many activities, manages all her ideas, as he himself often looks for efficient management ideas for his field of design. “I usually post memos to myself.”With another smile, GHS says that she usually goes back to these memos and organizes them one to two pages. When she looks at her old memos, she recognizes her innocence of those old days and sometimes feels embarrassed.

In the past, she would try to think and ponder over her ideas alone, but now, she often discusses her ideas with others. That way, she develops her ideas even further and even learns more from that experience. Then, GHS turns around to face the picture frames to say that she hung these frames one by one herself, hanging from a ceiling. She spoke about it so excitedly that Kaga is reminded of the child-like GHS.

She just started to hang one picture frame at a time and then suddenly such a design resulted. “Don’t you think an idea also comes from un-planning?” (I really get the feeling that GHS is very proud of her picture arrangement and I feel she is also saying something much deeper here---i.e. I don’t always have to know what I am doing in advance or where I am going beforehand or always control the future in order to make something beautiful. That is my interpretation.

What do you think, soompies? Everything that she says or does seems like a piece of art, doesn’t it?) Then, Kaga comments that “her talk moves to the mountain” (I think he means she digresses away from the topic at hand)..Kaga sees how thoroughly GHS enjoys conversing and realizes how much she really enjoys the company of people.

Third Question: Cooking and Dancing. If these are the only two left, which one would you choose first?

She starts to laugh and says that she does not think these questions are for her. She is not good in either of them. Then, she says that, whatever it is, it can work if I try them. Even if I fail, I will always gain something, learn something. If I only make excuses or blame others, I cannot look at myself. Kaga comments that he is again realizing GHS as an earnest/serious person. “Whatever it may be, it can work out if you have a positive mindset.” Kaga seems to have been stimulated/energized by GHS’ statement because he repeats what she says to himself. (Isn’t it interesting? Isn’t that what GHS wants from the general public?)

Fourth Question: You recently made the opening trailer for AISFF. Could you explain your concept?

Kaga was excited because it is his question.Actually he was hoping for his other question to be picked but he was OK with it. Kaga saw a TV program where GHS and Director Kim Ki Duk came out to present the trailer for 7th AISFF. Even the Director Kim stated that the trailer was very difficult to understand, so Kaga wanted to hear directly from GHS who directed the trailer.

GHS: “I feel that short films must have an outrageous and lawless element in them. That is what I tried to express in the trailer.”Due to budget shortage, I regret that I could not express everything that I hoped. I wanted to send out the feel of media art and to tell a story of “love” within it. Through the female actress, she wanted to express the feelings of love and hate and to draw out those feelings through the images. Something outrageous! Kaga wonders how much and how deeply GHS must have pondered for the short few seconds of the film.

Fifth: What do you think about when you look around?

She smiles and says that she says what she feels at the moment, but tries to be positive. Kaga comments that GHS is a person full of laughter. She says that she only draws when she feels happy not when she is down. Others chime in to say that, “when depressed, it is good to have a drink” and “when depressed, don’t you feel more like writing?” To those comments, GHS agrees with them while clapping, “That’s right! That’s right!”

GHS also adds that, in the past, she has erased or burnt some of her old writings for fear that other people might find them.

Sixth: (I do not know what ‘kosprae’ means) Is there a type of ‘kosprae’ costume that you are interested in trying?

This question stems from BOF when GHS wore the maid uniform costume (Another blogger said that her maid uniform was a hit in the Korean internet.).

GHS: “Actually,,,,I lean towards men’s things. So I collect men’s clothing and small and particular items and knick knacks usually associated with men. (That is why she has so many lego toys and airplanes and such in her café? I have a feeling the media may have a field day with this statement from GHS. Hahaha) So, the ‘kosprae’ that she really wants to try are: “eating like a horse”, “canteen robot”, “That’s right! That’s right! A fresh man!” ( I wonder if ‘fresh man’ mean a college freshmen? maybe something famous in Korea? Or just a man who is fresh? You know?,,,didn't she already put on the fresh man costume at the PIFF?)

Another person asks GHS, how about a ‘Snow White’? and GHS responds with a smile, “if an occasion arises....”

Seventh: GHS as environmentalist: what do you do to decrease CO2?

GHS thought for a while and says, “To be good, I can say it is for the environment, but I do this for myself—I do not use detergents. I try to let my conscience be my guide. She saw an elderly gentleman recycle and now she recycles also. What she does do persistently is, if she sees the automobile lights on, she would either text or call the person to turn off the lights.” So, Kaga comments to all those who may park near Kang Nam to turn on their car lights on purpose to see if they will get a warning from GHS! (What a kidder!!!)

The one question that I am sure everyone is interested in is the question about her ideal type and the type of person she wants to be with:

1. Question: GHS's ideal type and her ideal marriage life?

GHS- Her ideal type continues to change said she. From appearance then to personality then to man's ability/capability then to someone who is able to understand and have consideration for her, hence her ideal continues to change.

When people work in the same field, there is that constant competition/comparison of one's success, etc (basically there is always a competitive streak going on); and if working in completely different fields, that person is unable to understand that other person's line or work and what goes along with it and it could become difficult (basically she is trying to say that she would prefer a person working in the entertainment industry as that person is able to understand her line of work and all that goes along with it like the crazy working hours, schedules, kissing other people as their line of work, etc).

In complete honesty and bluntly put, she said that her ex of 4 years cheated on her. (I'm assuming her ex was not in the same line of work she was- which ex I do not know?)The highlighted part said: I do not like a person who just gives, there has to be a mutual understanding and she would like someone who is loyal.

edit: 2: Although I think "determination" could be part of the word "capability/ability" because if one doesn't have that, how can someone fully realize their potential without any work but for the sake of purity in translating, I'm changing it.

2. Question: A place that she recommends traveling to?

Answer: Mari Island (?- an island, Japan?)- she immediately responded. She has never been there and would definitely love to go there. A place that she would recommend going to and would like to go herself is the South Pole and to the desert. Her friends and herself are presently planning to go there. And the place she had been to several times (had fun) was Paris. Her favorite thing to do is to travel all around Korea.

3. Question: Where do you go to for your skincare?

Answer: Truthfully I haven't been to one in 2 years. (the fan who asked was sort of disappointed that she couldn't give an answer because she really wanted to go to the one GHS goes to)More to follow

4. Question: Method for taking self cam pics?

Answer: Honestly, I do not like taking pictures. (small print: her self cam pics were from long ago when digicams first came onto the market and she was fascinated by it)

5. How does GHS think of Producer Jung Seung Hye?

Answer: (the black print I believe is the fan and the highlighted part is GHS's response) black print: This past May, Jung Sueng Hye passed away from colon cancer and this fan still remembers the reports of GHS sobbing uncontrollably and fainting at her funeral. -

[although GHS later refuted claims of that nature])To GHS, when Jung Seung Hye producer was alive, she was highly revered/respected by GHS and was a sophisticated woman. She was someone who would not lose someone (i think the implication here is that she had loyalty), GHS really really liked her. "Jung Seung Hye has come back to me as a mirror"Because GHS thinks she is looking down on her from heaven, GHS can not lie. GHS said this while laughing.

Goo Hye Sun Star Interview at Cafe Manolin (10/21/09)

Although I am not 100% positive, I have a feeling that "lucky fan" is the owner of this blog which was listed in DCinside. I am going to translate what he said, esp. the portion he wrote about GHS.

This blogger states that he was one of the interviewers selected to interview GHS on STAR INTERVIEW. He is planning to post the entire interview by next Wed, October 28, 2009.

He says he had a busy week but interviewing GHS was most memorable to him. He says that the STAR INTERVIEW took place at GHS' Cafe Manolin which is located in Kang Nam (WOW, I did not know her cafe was in Kang Nam---now I wonder if Tablo may actually have his wedding at GHS's cafe. He would not identify the location of his wedding but said that it will be a very intimate wedding somewhere in Kang Nam of Seoul! That would be very sweet if it is really true!) He says that Cafe Manolin belongs to GHS and that she actually manages it herself.

He says the STAR INTERVIEW took about 3 hours of interviewing and taking pix. He says she took a pix with him and that she is just so nice. He puts in parenthesis that GHS is "just his type" with a red heart sign! He also says that his mother, after seeing BOF, became GHS fan and really likes her.

그 의 행보는 확실히 특이하다. 드라마 한편으로 한국은 물론 아시아권의 스타로 떠오른 후, 모두들 그가 절정의 인기에 힘입어 TV 광고의 명실상부한 ‘퀸’으로 등극하거나 껑충 뛰어오른 개런티를 받으며 새로운 작품에 출연하게 될 것으로 예상했었다.
Her reported activities are truly special. After the drama, her fame spread not only in Korea but also throughout Asia. We all expected her to follow the usual path of such stars like her--that she will either be enthroned to a seat of a commercial queen or, receiving a guarantee of huge success, soon star in another acting production.

그 런데 그는 공식대로 가지 않았다. 대신 생애 첫 소설을 발표했고, 단편영화로 감독데뷔를 했으며, 그림 전시회를 열었다. 직접 작곡한 뉴에지풍의 연주곡 8곡이 수록된 CD를 발매했으며, 일본의 세계적인 거장 이사오 사사키와 연주회를 열기도 했다. 남들은 몇 년이 걸려도 해낼까말까한 이 모든 작업을 그는 불과 5개월 동안 차근차근 세상에 내놓았다.
However, she took the road less taken by others. Instead, she published her very first novel. She made a debut as a director of her short film. She also exhibited her art in a gallery. She also issued a CD containing 8 New Age compositions created directly by herself. Not only that, she had a concert with the Master of New Age music, Isao Sasaki. Scrupuplusly and step by step, she revealed to the world her various work the past 5 months that for most people it may take many years to lifetime to accomplish.

본업인 연기는 현재 올스톱. 적어도 내년 상반기까지는 그의 얼굴을 드라마에서 볼 일이 없다. 대신 그의 스케줄표에는 제7회 아시아나국제단편영화제(11월5~10일) 기간 동안 상영될 공식 트레일러 제작, 11월 초 크랭크인에 하는 첫 장편영화의 출연자 캐스팅 및 준비 일정 등이 빼곡히 들어차 있다.
Her original work as an actress is at an all-stop at this point. It is most likely that, well into the next half of the year, we will not be able to see her face in any dramas. However, her schedule is tightly packed. At this current time, she is directing and producing a trailer film for the 7th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF) to be held from Nov 5th until 10th. Starting early November, she will be fully focusing on the production of her first full-length film.

‘ 꽃보다 남자’의 구혜선(25·사진)과 만날 약속을 한 후 조금 걱정이 앞섰다. 그는 정말로 다재다능한 천재인 것일까, 아니면 자신의 스타성을 이용할 줄 아는 철저한 계산가일까. 이도 저도 아니라면 상업주의에 이용당하는 ‘어린 여배우’에 불과한 것일까.
I was a bit nervous about meeting the BOF's 25 yo GHS. Is she really a multitalented genius? Or is she a thoroughly calculating entrepreneur that knows how to use her fame? If not this or that, is she just a young and naive actress being used very well by a business entrepreneur?

그를 좀 더 알고 싶어서 일러스트픽션이란 타이틀이 붙은 소설 ‘탱고’와 음반 ‘숨’을 읽고 들었다. 그의 내면은 생각보다 복잡해 보였다. 두 작품에서는 스타가 아닌 한 여성의 예민한 감수성과 외로움이 묻어나왔다.
I wanted to understand her better. So I read her book, TANGO and listened to her music CD, Breath. I felt that her inner life seems much more complex than I ever expected. Through her CD and novel, I uncovered not the star GHS but a one woman with an acute sensibility and loneliness.

최근 서울 청담동의 한 카페에서 구혜선을 만났다.
I met GHS at a cafe in Seoul Chun Nam Dong.

첫인상은 드라마와 화장품, 베이커리 광고 등에서 수없이 보아왔던 예쁜 이미지 그대로다.
My first impression of GHS is that she is as pretty in real life as all the images that I have seen her in dramas and CF commercials of make-up, bakery and more.

하 지만 그는 불편할 수도 있는 질문들에 주저하지 않고 거침없이 대답했다. 자신이 가진 재능과 부족함을 누구보다 잘 알고 있었으며, 유명연예인으로서 누릴 수 있는 유리한 조건과 한계도 명확하게 인식하고 있었다. 무엇보다도 그는 하고 싶은 일 많고 도전정신 강한 이십 대 젊은이, 그 자체였다. “취미생활을 상업화한다는 지적이 신경쓰이지 않는가”란 질문에 그는 “전혀 개의치 않는다”면서 시원시원하게 웃었다.
However, she unhesitatingly and straightforwardly answered all the questions, even the difficult ones. She was very aware of her own talents and her inadquacies more than anybody. She also clearly acknowledged the fact that there are benefits and limitations of all her activities because of her fame. However, more than that, she just knew that she had and has a strong desire as a person in her 20's to try and challenge herself to do many different things. That was all. When she was asked if she had any worries about turning her hobbies into business, she just simply and frankly answered that it never bothered her and laughed. (Who would not love to do something that they love to do and be rewarded by making an income from it also??)

“ 그런 말엔 한 번도 신경 써본 적이 없어요. ‘연기자 구혜선’이란 타이틀 때문에 제가 하는 일이 화려해 보이리란 점은 인정해요. 오랫동안 그림을 그리고 작곡을 해왔는데 다른 사람들과 공유해보고 싶다는 생각으로 발표했을 뿐이에요. 그리고 이 모든 작업이 곧 촬영에 들어갈 영화에 필요한 것들이었구요. 세상에 완벽한 사람은 없잖아요. 누구나 자기 인생의 주인공은 바로 자기 자신인 만큼, 주어진 여건에서 해보고 싶은 것을 시도할 기회를 찾는 게 중요하다고 생각해요. 물론 제가 연예인인 만큼 남들보다 많은 기회를 얻을 수는 있겠지요. 하지만 요즘엔 디지털기술의 발달 덕분에 자신을 표현할 기회와 무료 공간이 참 많아졌어요. 만약 연예인이 되지 않았어도, 전 제 작품을 발표할 수 있는 길을 모색했을 겁니다. 제 또래 젊은이들이 “구혜선도 하는데 나도 한번 해볼 수 있겠다”는 용기를 얻으면 좋겠어요.”
GHS: "I never worried or stressed over that type of statements. I admit that people may think that because I am an actress, that what I do may seem all glamorous. However, I have enjoyed drawing and composing for a very long time. I just wanted to share what I love with other people and that is why I decided to go public with my work.

Also, everything I have been doing are the necessary ingredients which will be entered into the movie that I am planning to make. There is no such thing as a perfect person in this world. We all must become the main characters or the stars of our lives. We are all different and start differently. But from whatever is our circumstances, it is very important that we find the opportunities to try out what we want to do.

Of course as an actress, I probably have more opportunities than others. However, due to the benefits of modern day digital magic and advanced technology, we can all easily create free opportunities and space to amply express our creativities and talents to the mass. Even if I was not an actress, I am pretty sure that I would have looked for various ways to display my work. I sincerely hope that my young peers will be encouraged to find their paths--and to boldly think that, if GHS can do it, they can certainly try it."

(I am in awe all over again because of what she said.)

그는 피아노를 독학으로 마스터했다는 자신의 사연을 들은 사람들이 ‘늦은 나이이지만 피아노를 다시 배워볼까’하는 생각을 갖게 된다면 보람된 일이 아니겠느냐고 말했다. 실제 한 팬으로부터 그런 편지를 받고 너무나 기뻤다는 것.
She mastered playing piano pretty much on her own. GHS was so very happy when she received a letter from a fan who learned that GHS learned to play the piano on her own. This encouraged the fan to return to playing piano again.

“인 천에서 태어나 청소년기를 보냈는데 집안형편이 결코 넉넉한 편이 아니었어요. 피아노교습소에 다니고 싶었는데 경제적 여유가 없어서 남들에게 짬짬이 배워서는 종이판에 그린 건반으로 연습하곤 했던 게 생각나네요. 동네 반장 집 아주머니가 저희 집에 중고 피아노를 물려주셨는데, 그것으로 피아노 연주를 독학하다시피 했죠. 그래서 프로 연주가처럼 연주를 잘하지는 못합니다. 작곡은 초등학교 5학년 때부터 시작해서 오늘날까지 이어졌구요. 청소년기에는 당시 대부분의 아이들이 그랬던 것처럼 HOT에 푹 빠져서 가수가 되길 열망했지요. 그 시절을 생각하면 지금의 전 정말 용 된 셈이에요. 제 자신이 바로 희망의 산 증거가 아니겠어요. 하하.”
GHS: "I was born and grew up in Inchun. My family's financial situation was not adequate. I could not afford to receive lessons from a proper teacher. I remember learning bits and pieces from others about how to play the piano and practice on a piano scale drawn on a piece of paper. A neighborhood lady (a mother of a class president) gave my family a used piano and I made an excellent use of the piano. That is why I cannot play the piano like a prefessional pianist. I started to compose since I was a 5th grader until today. Like most teenagers, I was also very much a fan of <> and desperately wanted to become a singer. If I look back to where I came from, I guess I did do well. I feel like I am my own evidence of living out my hopes. hahaha.

구 혜선은 자신이 ‘용’된 비결로 ‘무엇이든 남에게 잘 물어보는 습관’을 꼽았다. ‘꽃보다 남자’에서 딸보다 더 철딱서니 없는 엄마로 등장했던 임예진 ‘선배’와 촬영순서를 기다리며 서로 좋아하는 화가와 그림에 대해 이야기하다가 어떻게 하면 전시회를 열 수 있는지 물어보았고, 영화사 ‘아침’ 의 고 정승혜 대표에겐 어떻게 하면 영화를 직접 연출할 수 있는지 물어보다가 용기를 얻어 소설과 단편을 완성할 수 있었다는 이야기다. 소속사인 YG엔터테인먼트의 양현석 대표를 붙잡고는 CD 내는 방법을 물어봤단다.
GHS feels that her tendency to ask any and many questions to others helped her to come this far in her life. At BOF filming site, while standing by for the next scene, GHS would talk with her then actress-mother Im Ye Jin about their shared interest in art and artists. Then GHS would ask Im about how a person goes about having an art exhibit. She asked the Morning Production Company's late Rep Jung Seung Hae about how one goes about producing and directing a movie on her own. Eventually, I gained the courage to complete a novel and a short film. She even asked YG Enttertainment's President Yang Hyun Suk about how one goes about making a music CD. (Well, we all know the rest is history!!)

“ 자존심이 강한 편이어서 원래는 남에게 부탁하는 것을 잘 못했어요. 엔터테인먼트 쪽 일을 하다 보니 성격이 적극적으로 좀 바뀌었지요. 지금은 저보다 경험 많은 선배나 전문가들을 붙잡고 무조건 ‘가르쳐주세요’합니다. 부정적으로 생각하기 시작하면 아무것도 할 수 없어요. 기회를 놓치면 제 인생만 손해죠.”
GHS: "I am basically a very proud person that I was not very good at asking for help in the beginning. While working in the entertainment field, I became more proactive. Even now, I would, without any reservation, ask for help and counsel from more experienced sunbaes. I ask them to teach me. If I start to think negatively, then I cannot do anything. If I lose an oportunity, I only bring loss to my own life.

그 는 ‘알고 보니 이 세상에서 만나는 모든 사람들이 다 내게 가르침을 주고 도와주는 사람이더라’란 인생 다 산 사람 같은 말도 했다. 부모부터 선생님, 일터에서 만나는 선배 동료 후배, 소속사 식구 등 수많은 사람들의 도움 덕분에 오늘날의 자신이 존재할 수 있게 됐다는 것. 그 중 인천에서 보낸 중·고등학교 시절 그림 과외교습 선생님을 구혜선은 ‘내 인생의 가장 중요한 멘토’로 꼽았다.
GHS speaks as if she has lived a very long life already. "Everybody that I meet in my life has been and will be able to teach me and help me." My parents, my teachers, every person that I meet at work and filming locations, my Agency family and so many, many people have guided and helped me. Without every single one of them, my existence could not have been possible. Among them, the most important person and mentor in my life is my art teacher from the junior and senior high school days."

“ 제게 오히려 맛난 것을 많이 사주시면서 그림을 가르쳐주셨던 분인데, 그 선생님을 못 만났으면 그림에 대해 눈을 뜨지 못했고 지금처럼 이것저것 많은 시도를 해볼 용기를 못 냈을 겁니다. 제게 선물로 주신 책 ‘레오나르도 다빈치처럼 생각하기’에 사물을 관찰하고 아이디어를 발전시키는 방법 등이 잘 나와있었어요. 예를 들어서 그림을 그린 다음에 거울에 비춰서 애초 생각했던 것과 또 다른 이미지를 발견해보는 것 등등이요. 밑줄 쳐 가면서 정말 열심히 읽었는데, 선생님과 이 책이 준 가르침이 지금도 큰 힘이 됩니다.”
"I should have been the one to pay but she actually bought me many things to teach me. If I never met her, I would never have opened my eyes to art and I would never have gained confidence in myself to try many different things. She gave me as a present a book called, 'To Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci' which helped me to become more observant about everything and helped me to develop and implement ideas. I studied the book very carefully, even underlining certain parts. My art teacher and the book still influence me greatly to this day."

구 혜선 앞에 놓인 새로운 도전은 음악을 소재로 한 장편영화 ‘요술’의 연출이다. 단편 ‘행복한 도우미’작업을 함께 했던 스태프들을 다시 불러모았고 시나리오와 촬영준비도 끝난 상태다. 11, 12월 두 달간 촬영한 후 빠르면 내년 상반기에 공개가 가능할 것으로 구혜선은 예상했다.
GHS's next challenge right in front of her is the production of the musically based full-length movie MAGIC. She has gathered everybody who have already worked with her on the short film,Cheerful Caretaker . Her script is complete and all the preparation work to start filming is also complete. She plans to complete filming the movie during the months of November and December of this year. If everything is finalized, she may be able to open her movie as soon as the first part of next year.

“항상 캐스팅 당하다가 배우를 캐스팅하는 입장이 되고 보니 만만치않네요. 그렇지 않아도 남들에게 부탁하고 도움을 많이 받아왔는데, 이제부터 더 많이 해야 될 것 같습니다. 그런데 그 모든 과정이 너무 재미있어요.”
"As an actress, I never knew how hard and difficult to be in the position to cast for actors. I have already asked for so much help and guidance. However, I have to do even more full force from now on. But, I find all this process and circumstance so very interesting."

그런데 정말 설마 였습니다!
얼굴도 예쁜데, 음악도 잘하고, 그림도 잘그리고, 연출까지...
대부분 이런 사람들은 성격이 별로잖아요;;
요즘은 하늘이 공평하지 않다는 말이 딱인가봐요.
성격도 좋더라구요!!
여자한테 반하기 쉽지 않은데, +_+ 정말 눈이 부셨어요.
그 털털함에서 더 반했습니다.
매니저도 없이 혼자 택시타고 방송국까지 들어오실 줄은 꿈에도 몰랐지요;;
매니저 분은 나중에 오시더라구요~>_< 그렇게 오셔서 대본을 보시더니, 머리를 곱게 땋시고, 이쁜 미모를 마구 뽐내셨구요, 피아노 연주 하실 때, 떨리셨다고 하는 이야길 살짝 들었습니다 ^^;
She came all alone with her cap, carrying her bag, so unpretentious HyeSun-nim! Alone!
Well, I never knew she would really do that!
But it was really true!
She has a pretty face, great in music, great in art, even in directing....
Most of the time, people like that have terrible personality.
It seems to be correct what they say--that Heaven is not fair.
Even her personlity is great!!
I do not become easily attracted to all women +_+ My eyes were dazzled.
I even felt more attracted to her down to earth manners.
She came alone without her manager! I never thought she would just grab a cab and come to the studio...

한국말을 다 알아들으시는 것 같았어요.
뭐 물론 아니겠지만...
어느 정도 알아들으시는 것 같았고,
오시자마자 풍기는... 그 편안함에...

역시나 잘 받아 주셨습니다.
역시 거장은 다르긴 다른가 봐요.

Radio Interview of Goo Hye Sun and Isao Sasaki at Yoo Hee Yul's Radio Heaven at 89.1MHz KBS 2FM (9/03/09)

(Yoo Hee Yul’s Radio Heaven definitely seems like the kind of a music program that GHS would really love: kind of music he plays on air and his mellow, gently blunt and funny yet philosophical style,,,, I liked him too.)

She even admits to Yoo that she listens to him all the time and that she really likes him. She says she loves his sense of humor. Yoo requested that GHS’ statement be recorded special for his keepsake. (hahaha)

It is her first time meeting Yoo in person and finds him very handsome. It made Yoo turn red (according to GHS) and he also became distracted for a minute. He lost his speech for a second and told her that he also enjoys playing piano.(Maybe Yoo is offering that he would be willing to jam with her sometimes? It was funny! Also, GHS is true to her words as she said in TBS Kings’ Brunch Program. She cannot hold back if she likes somebody. She expressed in public radio program that she not only loves Yoo’s program and finds him very handsome but that she also likes him! Hahaha!)

He was embarrassed and thought that Isao Sasaki would think of him "crazy”. Everybody laughs. Then he says that he does not know what he is saying and he and GHS laugh. In the beginning of the program when he is introducing GHS and Isao Sasaki, he told GHS that he feels as if his eyes just turned bright and clear just by looking at her in person and expressed his admiration. (GHS and Yoo's flirtings with each other on air was adorable! Later, after GHS and Isao Sasaki have left already, one of his listeners send in a comment that today's program was quite different than before! hahaha)

She and Sasaki played combined with . GHS says that he and she are going to play that fusion music for the next CD together. (Wow, another CD already in preparation!)
GHS first approached Sasaki by sending him her music for review and GHS became Sasaki’s fan ever since she heard his as a child. Her first impression of Sasaki when she met in person was that he seemed like a very kind-hearted “AhJuhssi or Uncle”. That is how she calls Isao Sasaki and he understands it. They have met since about two months ago. (Remember she went to Japan in early July?)

Regarding his free concert, he could not clarify as he does not know the details. GHS gained confidence to publicize her music because she also found out that Sasaki never learned piano professionally, just like herself. They share that commonality~ they both love to play and work on their music on their own and to create music on their own. Sasaki also learned various musical instruments on his own like violin and flute.

His first impression of GHS was, like everybody else, that she is very cute. He did not know much about her as he does not watch TV that much. Then he found out more about GHS through internet and found her to be a very impressive woman. He also found her music very refreshing and that is why he wanted to work with her. Sasaki also played his own composition, “A Beautiful Meeting”~ WOW, so good! What an appropriate title also for their first appearance together in public!!

It was announced by Yoo’s listener in this program that GHS’s is the number 3 on a particular music site! *WOW* GHS also played her with a cellist named Jung Ji Eun. *WOW* Sounds really nice with the added cello sound.( I am even more looking forward to her movie now!!!) In response to a question about the cast for her movie, GHS states that she cannot yet reveal as she is begging someone to act in her movie right now. Yoo, without missing a beat, says that, right, in case that person rejects your offer, we do not want to think of her as a horrible person! (This is the point at which GHS told Yoo that is why she likes him!)

In response to some of the email questions, GHS stated that she has not yet received the comprehensive physical after BOF. After she explains why she needs physical exam, Yoo says that he will give her "ho ho" after the show. That expression of sound is usually given to little kids who have a "boo boo or bruise" and mothers usually blow on their cuts or bruises and say "ho ho". (hahah)

She really loves and has always wanted to do something with her love of writing, composing and drawing. She has gradually become very interested in directing and making movies as a result. She has been working on her crafts all her life and so far she has accumulated over 100 compositions and songs. Isao Sasaki also played a bit of his famous . WOW!

Towards the end of his program, Yoo also plays several Tango music!! (how appropriate as he and GHS talked about her book TANGO and all her other talents!)

@3:43 GHS: That day all I remember is how cold it was. It was so cold that we had to share

GHS: Yes, we had to work throughout the whole night until the next morning.

@4:15 They meet up with LMH. GHS calls out LMH and MC calls him with ssi at the end of his
name out of respect.

GHS jokingly says to LMH: Were you pretending that you did not see us?

@4:43 MC: Has it been a long time since you each other?

GHS: We saw each other about three weeks ago.

MC: Three weeks ago, for reason did you see each other?

LMH: She is so multi-talented that she had a gallery opening that day so I went to support and to see her.

@5:43 MC asks where they sat for the filming of the cable cart scene and both show how they
sat trying not to touch each other.

GHS comments that, that day, LMH had a runny nose that "trickle, trickle down".
Then LMH says that GHS has a runny nose that flow, flow down".

They are just making fun of each other as they always have done even on the set in a joking way.
(They were describing how their nose ran--MH is saying if my nose trickled down, HS' nose flowed down.)

@5:45 MC: Was there any memorable event that day in the cable car?

LMH: I really fell asleep on her shoulder---

MC: Because you were so tired?

LMH says Yes.

@6:18 MC:Did you know about the original work of BOF before being casted?

LMH: It is such a famous original work that I knew about it.
But after I was casted, I saw the original dramas already made.

MC: Once casted, how did you feel?

LMH: I felt so lucky for have been casted for such a wonderful role. It felt like I won a lottery.

(They visit the Teddy Bear Museum and look around. I think JP and JaeKyung went on a date there. GHS was saying these bears are good as gifts.)

@8:05 MC: In the BOF drama, both JP and JD had many scenes where they really could not
be very honest about feelings for each other. If you are dating somebody, would
you be any different or same to the person that you are interested in?

GHS: I tend to be honest about those things and express my feelings.

MC: Even before the other person confess his feelings?

GHS: Yes, because I have no patience to wait. I have a personality that cannot wait.

LMH: For me, I think I would be more careful. If I like somebody, I will take a long time to just observe that person and see.

MC: Did you ever receive any special, romantic event or gift from a boyfriend before?

GHS: Yes, there was a time that I did receive such. However, I prefer to give than to get.

MC: like what?

GHS: I have not done this yet, but I would like to get a license to operate a plane and take my boyfriend on a plane ride.

LMH: The person riding beside you would be scared to death! (Laughter breaks out.)

Both LMH first and GHS say their good byes with asking the audience to watch and enjoy BOF and
to take care of their health in hot weather.

Jo Min KI is an actor who recently came out as the "evil man/father/husband in East of Eden". But he is also an experienced photographer. As an actor, he usually get photographed but he himself enjoys inviting and then capturing the essence of admirable men and women in the public life through phtographs and interviews. (Maybe he is working on his next photojournal book.) HIs very first guest in his new studio is Goo Hye Sun. 　

"스튜디오 오픈하고 사실상 첫 고객이에요." "어머 정말요? 너무 부담돼요!" 　서울 청담동 엠넷빌딩 뒷골목의 스튜디오 지오. 1년간 운영해왔던 스튜디오를 이전오픈 한 지 1주일째를 맞은 조민기가 첫 '피사체'를 맞았다. 구혜선. "

After opening this new studio, you are my first guest/client." "Oh My, really? I feel so overwhelmed." His studio is in Seoul Chun Nam Dong Emnet Building back alley. He had his studio for a year at another location. His new one has been open only a week. His first subject is GHS. 　

처음 만난 듯 인사했지만 사실 구면이다. 얼마전 조민기의 이전 스튜디오에서 스쳐지나가듯 주인과 고객으로 만난 적이 있다.

They have met before briefly. They bumped into each other at his old studio location. 　

연기 호흡을 맞춰본 적은 없지만 두 사람에겐 묘한 공통점이 있다. 올초 '에덴의 동쪽'과 '꽃보다 남자'로 맞대결을 펼칠 당시, 조민기는 사진 에세이집 '조씨 유랑화첩'을 펴냈고, 구혜선은 소설 '탱고'를 출간했다. 조민기가 카메라로 사진을 찍는다면, 구혜선은 손수 일러스트와 추상화를 그리는 화가. 최근 조민기가 '에덴의동쪽' 스페셜 프로그램의 MC로 TBS 측과 촬영을 가졌는데, 다음주에는 구혜선이 '꽃보다 남자' 관련해 TBS 쪽과 촬영 일정이 잡혀 있다.

They have never acted together before. But they seem to have many similarties. In the first part of the year, they were even competitors for viewership as BOF and East of Eden were shown at the same time on different channels. They both are authors. Jo Min Ki wrote a collection of essays and photographs called, and GHS, of course, wrote .Jo MinKi takes pictures with camera and GHS draws her art. Recently, Jo Minki came out as a MC for TBS special on . Next week, GHS is scheduled to appear in the same program on a BOF special. (We all have to watch for it. I wonder if other cast members of BOF will also appear??)

　 선행 연예인이라는 점도 같다. 알려져 있듯 조민기는 아프리카에 우물파는 선행을 해왔다. 구혜선은 남모르게 좋은 일을 해왔다. 가만히 보면 조민기는 디지털에 강하다는 것, 구혜선은 컴맹이라는 것만 빼면 하나부터 열까지, 참 많이 닮아 있는 두 사람이다.

They are also known in the industry as the actors. Jo Kinki has been very active for a while on digging for wells in Africa. GHS prefers to do her good deed without letting anybody know. (sorry I do not understand the next sentence. I think it is saying that although Jo is stronger on difital while Goo is on other so many things, they are so similar.)

　화기애애한 토크는 잠시 미루고, 곧바로 프로페셔널한 사진 작가와 모델로 촬영준비에 들어갔다.

Let's first take a look as Jo takes photographs of his model GHS like a real professional, before going into their harmonious talk together later.

　 두 사람이 준비한 컨셉트는 '꿈★꾸는 여신'. 하늘하늘 아방가르드한 가디건과 원피스에 황금색 하이힐 샌들에 구혜선이 어느새 사랑스러운 '그리스의 님프'로 변신, 무대에 올랐다. "조금 어색하기도 해요. 원래 이런 스타일은 안 입거든요. 집 옷장 열어보면 남자 옷이 많아요. 옷이 바뀌면 성격도 행동도 바뀌는 것 같아요."

The two of them came up with the concept of for the photographs. In a flowing avant-garde one piece and golden high hills, Goo, looking as lovely as a 'Greek nymph', stepped up to the stage. "It is slightly awkward as I rarely wear these type of dress. If you open my closet, you will find more boyish type of clothing. However, somehow clothes changes the personality too."

　그리스 신전 같은 기둥과 아치, 그리고 흰 계단을 설치해놓은 조민기는 이내 "밖으로 뛰어나갈 듯한 느낌으로 달려가 보세요"라며 뜀박질 동작을 요구한다.

JO already set up the stage like the Greek shrine with the columns and arches and the white steps. He instructs Goo to "run as if you want to fly" to take shots.

　뭘 보여주려는 거지? 자못 어리둥절한 표정을 지어보이는 구혜선. 그러나 조민기의 한마디에 곧 "아하!" 감을 잠는다. "아치 밖에 구혜선의 꿈, 희망, 그리고 판타지가 있다고 생각해 보세요!" 역시나. 오케이 사인이 떨어졌다.

At Jo's instruction, Goo immediately gets what he means. Jo continues with, "Behind those arches are Goo Hye Sun's dreams, hopes and fantasy." Goo gets it.

　'계단오르기 막노동(?)'을 마친 구혜선에게 두번째 미션이 떨어진다. 커다란 등불 아래서 아련한 표정을 지을 것! "모델은 잘 빠진 몸매, 신체적인 장점을 뽑는다면, 배우는 감정을 뽑아내는 거라고 생각하는데, 혜선씨 생각은 어때요?" 대답 대신 꿈을 좇으면서 느끼는 희망, 좌절, 그리고 성취의 감정들이 구혜선의 백가지 표정으로 피어오른다.

Goo's second mission: Under the large circular light, Goo is to give off a far-away and hazy look. Jo says,"If a model is to show off her figure and physical attributes, an actor's role is to give off the just right emotion. What do you think, HS ssi? Instead of answering, she poses those accompanying feelings when people want torealize thier dreams: hope, hopelessness, triumph, and hundreds more on her face.

　마지막은 의자 신이다. 두 개의 의자 중 구혜선이 왼쪽 의자에 앉았다. 옆자리에 누가 앉았다 일어났을까, 앞으로 누가 그녀의 옆에 앉을까. 다양한 상상을 하게 만드는 사진이다.

The last one is the chair scene. Two chairs and Goo sits on the left one. Who just got up from the chair on Goo's right? Who now will take over that empty chair next to her? The photograph arouses much imagination.

　" 구혜선이라는 배우를 생각해 봤어요. 저도 참 하라는 연기 안하고 이것저것 뻘짓 많이 하는데, 이 친구도 참 많은 걸 하는 것 같더라고요. 여배우 구혜선이 아니라 끊임없이 꿈을 꾸는 컬처 크리에이터 구혜선을 보여주고 싶었어요."

JO: I thought about the actress Goo Hye Sun. Like me, she goes out and do so many other things, not just acting. Not just an actress, but someone who dreams endlessly, a culture creator. I wanted to show that side of GHS.

　잠깐의 촬영이었지만 조민기는 놀라운 에너지와 열정, 창의력, 상상력을 뿜어보였고, 구혜선은 몸에 익은 모델 센스로 넉넉히 받아줬다.

Shooting may have been short, but Jo showed off so much of his passion, creativity, and imagination. GHS also showed off her ability as an experienced model.

이 제는 기자 조민기와 톱스타 구혜선으로 모드를 바꿔 만날 차례. 자연스럽게 선물 증정식도 이어졌다. 구혜선이 준비해온 일러스트 전시회 팸플릿을 꺼내자 조민기는 자신이 펴낸 사진 에세이집 '조씨 유랑화첩'을 건넨다. 이어 조민기(이하 조)의 질문 공세가 시작됐다.

Now time for a chat. First they exchange gifts: GHS brought him the pamphlet of her illustrations and paintings from the gallery and Jo gives her a copy of his photgraphic essay collection.

　어떻게 시나리오 쓸 생각을 했어요? 배우라면 영화는 생각하지만 시나리오까지 쓰는 건 드문데…
JO: How did you ever think about writing? Most actors usually just think about movies but rarely ever actually write the scenarios.

　고등학교 때부터 그냥 썼어요. 장편만 13편 정도?
Goo: I have been writing since high school. I have written as much as 13 scenarios/chapters for a full length.

어떤 목적이 있어서 했던 것도 아니었어요. 명확한 꿈이라는 게 없었고, 뭘 해야 할지 모르는 채 살았어요. 어쩌다보니 연기자도 됐고, 이전부터 조금씩 생각해 왔던 것들이 이상하게 다 결실을 맺게 되네요.
Goo: It wasn't because I had any specific goal. I never thought about making a movie. I really did not know what I wanted to do. Then, somehow, I became an actress. Slowly, all the things that I have been thinking about are shaping together and all are strangely coming to fruition.

　오늘 테마가 꿈인데 혜선씨 꿈은 뭐예요?
JO: Today's theme is dreams. What is your dream, HS?

　어릴 땐 화가, 가수 되고팠는데지금은… 굳이 말하자면 그냥 잘 사는 거?
Goo: When I was little, I wanted to be an artist and later a singer. Now....if I have to say it, I just want to live well.

　 어릴 때는 화가가 되고 싶다, 가수가 되고 싶다. 대답했는데. 지금은 답을 못하겠어요. 뭘 해야 한다는 게 압박이 될 수도 있잖아요. 과정이 즐거우면 되는 것 같아요. 결과가 좋으면 더 좋겠지만. 굳이 말하자면, 그냥 잘 사는 거?
Goo: When I was younger, I was more specific and said I wanted to be an artist and singer. Now. I cannot answer specifically. To become something or do something can become a pressure. If the process is joyful, I am happy. If the result is good, of course, even better. If I have to say it. I just want to live well. (to be happy in life??)

　그동안 만난 남자들이 다 달랐어요. 마음이 맞는 게 제일 중요한 것 같아요.
Goo: Every man that I have met so far have been very different from each other. The most important thing for me is the connection and meeting of the minds.

　 사랑은 변하게 마련인 것 같아요. 하지만 아무리 오래 만나도 마지막까지 가슴이 두근거렸던 것 같아요. 저는 그 사람의 단점도 사랑했는데, 상대는 그게 아닌 것 같아요. 서로 합의하에 헤어질 때가 많았어요. 아직도 사랑에 대한 환상이 있는 것 같아요. 정말 보잘것없는 사람인데도 가슴이 두근거리고, 정말 멋진 조건을 다 갖췄는데 아무 감정이 안 들기도 하고. 마음이 맞는 게 제일 중요한 것 같아요. 그런데 그런 사람을 만난다는 게 쉽지 않더라고요.
Goo: My feeling is that love always changes and does not stay the same. (WHOA, what a sad perspective, realistic or pessimistic?) However, I have felt that flutter of heart and attraction from the beginning to the end. I loved all his faults but he could not. Usually we mutually parted. Even at this age, I think I have much fantasy about love. I fell deeply for someone who had very little to offer and I have also felt nothing for someone who had everything to offer. 　뉴에이지 앨범을 작곡하고 있어요. 9월쯤 나올 것 같아요. 원래 영화음악으로 작업했던 곡들이에요. 8곡 정도 작업하고 있어요.
Goo: Most likely in September, my newage album will be coming out. Originally I composed them for a movie. About 8 compositions in all.

　▶혹시 콘서트도 계획중이에요? 구혜선씨라면 왠지 소극장에서 작게 할 것 같은 느낌이….
JO: Are you also thinking about a concert? Knowing you, I have a feeling you would want to do it in a smaller stage?

Goo: wow, how did you know? Yes , I hope to do that.

　 척하면 착. 열아홉 나이차를 믿기 어려울 정도로 코드가 척척 맞는다. 구혜선이 이제는 조민기의 혈액형을 알아맞추며 친근감을 드러낸다. "혹시 O형 아니세요?" "어라? 맞아요�" "전 A형이에요." "그럴 것 같았어요�" 다음 번엔 연기자 선후배로 드라마에서 만날 수도 있겠다. 아버지와 딸, 삼촌과 조카, 오빠와 동생. 그 어떤 관계로도 그림이 될 것 같다. (물론 조민기는 연인 관계도 충분히 소화할 수 있다고 강력히 주장했지만.)
Even with 19 years between them, they interact so well and so comfortably. They could almost read each other.
