Two New Korean Movies: "The Red Muffler - 2011" Rain and Sin Se-kyeong VS "The Thieves" Kim Yoon-seok and Jeon Ji-hyeon
Top stars have put their names on the line and are competing.
Two star-studded movies are about to go into filming. "The Red Muffler - 2011" about air force fighters and "The Thieves" which is about an international group of thieves.
Singer Rain, Sin Se-kyeong, Lee Ha-na and Yoo Joon-sang have gotten together for the movie "The Red Muffler - 2011" (directed by Kim Dong-weon). The Korean Peninsula on the verge of outbreak of war as the background, air force pilots fight to overcome this problem. It's a action blockbuster worth more than 10 billion Korean won (about US$10 millions).
Rain, who isn't far from being admitted into the army, has been active in Hollywood movies like "Speed Racer", "Ninja Assassin" and more. This is his first Korean blockbuster and he will be playing along Sin Se-kyeong who rose to stardom in the sitcom "High Kick Through The Roof" and is being called the 'bluechip' of movies and advertisements.
There are other fancy stars besides them.
Lee Ha-na, Yoo Joon-sang and Kim Sung-soo who have been mainly lead roles in movies, are expected to play somber characters regardless of what role they are.
Another film being looked forward to is "The Thieves" with top stars.
Known to be the busiest actor in Chungmuro, Kim Yoon-seok and Jeon Ji-hyeon whose return to national screen is displaying interest are confirming their roles in the movie. Kim Hye-soo is also discussing confirmation and so is Lee Jeong-jae who enhanced his value through "The Housemaid - 2010" last year.
Director Choi Dong-hoon is directing the movie "The Thieves" and has made continuous big hits with movies "The Big Swindle", "The War Of Flower" and "JEON WOO CHI : The Taoist Wizard". It's an action movie about a legendary thief and his girlfriend fighting for a huge diamond. The unusually brainy thieves, the structure of the movie and the character set-up is giving this movie the nickname "The Korean Ocean's Eleven" with Brad Pitt and George Clooney as leads.
The movie is still waiting for more actors to come on board and will start shooting this April or May as soon as they're done with casting.
